NCS is a life-changing programme open to all teenagers aged 15-17 to discover who they are and what they can do.
It gives them chance to explore, be inspired and find their passion. Nearly 500,000 young people have already taken part since it started.
During the Summer, James works as an NCS Wave Leader delivering the NCS Programme with Brathay Trust. It really is a great opportunity for young people (who, more often than not have spent no time away from home) to show their true colours and succeed in many different roles on this fantastic initiative.

The young people feel the freedom of the outside world during five days away from home, taking on adrenaline-fuelled activities like rock climbing, canoeing and archery. Their teams cheer them along every step of the way, sharing in every challenge, every success. Then they have a few days back at home for some much-needed rest!
The young people should expect transformation, because this week is all about developing THEMSELVES. Living independently, they'll learn essential life skills from local business leaders and charities, gain confidence in public speaking, communications skills and budgeting. It all looks great on their CV, whatever they do next.
Now it’s time to make their mark. Back at home, they will work with their teams to devise a community project based on an issue they feel passionate about. They will have started to develop the skills and confidence to do anything – the more original, the better! This is their chance to feel proud by making a real difference in their community.
